Giving your parasympathetic nervous system (think rest and refresh) opportunities to take charge in your body also gives your sympathetic nervous system (think fight or flight) time to reset itself. This is what relaxation massage is about.
Massage practitioner Abi'l-Khayr has adapted myofascial technique to create Relaxation Xpress, a style of relaxation massage designed to produce maximum relaxation efficiently and effectively.
Relaxation Xpress uses a sequence of releases drawn from Abi’l-Khayr’s training and experience with Myofascial Bodywork. The focus of the 60-minute session is on bringing you into a deeply relaxed state, using techniques which are effective yet different than the more typical Swedish-style massage. Gentle stretches to targeted areas are held over time in order to remove tension locked deeply in the connective tissue of the body. The session follows a general protocol, working primarily around the head, neck, arms and hands, and concludes with some work around the shoulder blades, followed by a slow, lengthening stretch of the spine and low back.
Good Medicine has regular hours from 10:00 a.m. till 9:00 p.m. on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. Appointments are required. Online scheduling is a convenient way to book your session now -- it will normally be confirmed within 12 hours.
Please do not apply lotion before your session. In myofascial work, lotion is not used, as it causes the hands to slip across the surface of the skin rather than engaging with the deeper tissue. Clients will be asked to undress to underwear; women may prefer a two-piece bathing suit, or sports bra and running shorts. A cover sheet is not used.
The cost for the 60-minute session is $60; I am now also offering a 90-minute session for $90. Come allow yourself a bit of a treat. De-stress. Unwind. Schedule your Relaxation Xpress session today at Good Medicine in our Chagrin Falls/Bainbridge studio:

The techniques used in a Relaxation Xpress session are drawn from my work doing Myofascial Bodywork as a Licensed Massage Therapist in New York State. I am not licensed to do therapeutic work in Ohio, so I am limited to offering relaxation massage at this time. The other pages of this website will provide some further background and information about myofascial work. Please feel free to explore!
